When a few friends and I decided to go to Belize I immediately thought I would wear swimsuits and virtually as little clothes as possible the entire trip. Once I was actually packing, I decided to take a more chic and functional route.

I had a moment of realization that tropical weather is unpredictable and I’m going to take a step back and really think about the clothing I was bringing with me on this trip. We did decide to hike the ruins so I knew I needed functional clothes and  I knew it would be pretty humid so I knew I would need more flowy clothes.

We booked our four day stay in Belize City, Belize and were happily surprised to reach out little oasis. It was an quaint bed and breakfast with an adorable courtyard, pool, and high walls for privacy.

Our BnB was able to arrange for us to have a driver show us around and we drove around the beautiful Belize City with our guide. He showed us the iconic Belize sign, a rum factory and the statues honoring influential Belizans.

For our main day in town, I chose a romper from RebDolls and it was perfect the outfit for the day. It has a little structure but still very comfortable and allowed for the breeze to cool me with the belizean humidity.

On our second day, we decide to head to Alta Hun. Mini History lesson: Stones from the ruins of the ancient structures were reused for residential construction of the agricultural village of Rockstone Pond in modern times, but the ancient site did not come to the attention of archeologists until 1963. The Old Northern Highway connects Altun Ha to Belize's Northern Highway, and the site is accessible for tourism. The largest of Altun Ha's temple-pyramids, the "Temple of the Masonry Altars", is 16 metres (52 ft) high. A drawing of this structure is the logo of Belize's leading brand of beer, "Belikin".

When we got there, we were so excited. There was a Museum in front of the ruins to explain the history and show some of the findings. It was amazing to see the people who lived there and built the civilization. Next, we climbed the ruins and were in awe of just how big and robust they were. Once we climbed down the back of the ruins, we saw a guy with a small alligator. At first we thought it was completely bizarre, but decided to hold the little guy (whose mouth was rubber banded shut) and tips the owners.

For our hike I went with a cute matching set from Rainbow that was extremely breathable and functional to hike those very tall ruins.

Our next day was a dream! We took a boat from Belize City and spent the day on a island called Caye Caulker. Caye Caulker is a small Caribbean island off the coast of Belize. It’s divided by a narrow channel called the Split, where there’s a bar and a sandy beach. We rented bikes and rode them around the island. We stopped at had lunch at the split, which was right on the water and even had the ocean side tables. We ate and drank until we couldn’t anymore and waded in the water.

For a beach day I chose a mesh overlay dress with a scarf headband for something sleek and chic all in all it was a great day out of the office.

Our trip to Belize was definitely one for the books and I will be back!
